Energy as an Economic Driver
OVERVIEW
From July 23–29, 2025, Global New Orleans hosted a delegation from Mexico for the project Energy as an Economic Driver. The program brought together government officials, nonprofit leaders, and energy sector professionals to explore how energy policy and innovation can stimulate economic growth. During their time in New Orleans, participants engaged with a range of stakeholders, including the New Orleans City Council, the Louisiana Public Service Commission, the Tulane Energy Institute, the Mayor’s Office of Resilience and Sustainability, and the Alliance for Affordable Energy. The group also examined offshore wind development with the Southeastern Wind Coalition. As part of the program, Consul General of Mexico Noemí Hernández welcomed the delegation at the Mexican Consulate for an evening reception. These meetings highlighted the region’s energy infrastructure, regulatory approaches, and strategies to promote renewable energy and affordability, offering insights to inform Mexico’s evolving energy landscape.PARTICIPANTS
