We foster cross-cultural understanding by bringing international visitors and local people together to share knowledge, build relationships, and learn from one another. If you believe in that work and want to help shape its future, we invite you to consider serving on our Board of Directors.
What board members do
Our board helps guide Global New Orleans’ mission and strategy and oversees the organization’s financial health. Board members bring their perspectives, experience, and relationships to the table. They introduce people to our work, help us find the resources to sustain it, and serve as ambassadors in the community.
You do not need a background in international affairs to contribute. We welcome people with a range of professional and lived experiences who care about our mission and are ready to take an active role.
What to expect
Board members are elected to three-year terms and may serve up to two consecutive terms. We ask each board member to:
Attend at least four of our six board meetings each year and participate on at least one board committee.
Help connect Global New Orleans with potential supporters, partners, members, and program resources.
Take part in fundraising and make a personal financial contribution. Each board member commits to giving and/or raising at least $300 annually, including a personal contribution.
Stay informed about our programs and share our work with others.
Participate when possible in events, professional exchanges, home hospitality, and other opportunities to meet the people involved in our programs.
Board service takes time and commitment, but it also offers a chance to meet people you might never otherwise meet and help create opportunities for both New Orleanians and visitors from around the world.
